Trac Launched

After my abbreviated review of wiki and issue management tools, I introduced my company to Trac with an email and login information on Monday afternoon.

I focused initial setup on wiki structure to demonstrate what we will put there.  I created a small number of project scope pages, technical documentation on a couple interfaces, and posted information about the servers.  I also included a page listing the goals from my earlier post and a discussion about moving things out of email.  Time will tell if I'm successful meeting those goals.

So there's not much there yet, but I hopefully created a decent blueprint for it to grow.  Before the end of the week, we plan to transfer outstanding tickets from the old system to Trac.  We also need to import the source code into the Subversion repository.  (I'll write about introducing developers to this process as we work through it.)

All but one person logged in.  The one who didn't ran into problems because I messed up the email with his login info.  Most just logged in and took a look.  A couple of people stopped by my office to ask questions about how we're going to use it.  They seemed generally enthusiastic.  I didn't have to guess about one guy's enthusiasm.  He was ready to move over all the tickets today.  I had to tell him whoa!  Let's give everyone a chance to look at it and we'll move them over later this week.
