Arizona to Wisconsin - Day 4
The RV took a break today in the Black Hills of South Dakota. We rented a car and went to see the sights with the kids. Some of you may know one of the most popular things to see in the area...
The Black Hills has a lot more to offer. You could spend a whole week here, like our camp neighbors from Ohio. There are a number of things to see in the area from caves to museums to interesting drives... one of which features this 8 1/2 foot wide, 10 foot high "passage" through the rocks.
I'm glad I did not attempt this drive in the RV. If I had, we'd have bigger problems than a generator that won't start and a slightly chewed driver-side seat belt receptacle. Yeah... we woke up to a little message from the dogs about what they thought about us taking them for a walk at 5:30am, then expecting them to go back to sleep. Fortunately, the seat belt buckles and I'll call a Ford dealer when we arrive in Wisconsin.
We loved the climate here, especially after my wife went on to check her email. Her home page greeted her with a note of 113 back home. I'm not sure it broke 75 today and if it did it was before the hail storm we got caught in at Mt. Rushmore. When we sat around dinner talking about our most favorite part of the day, I had to mention this one. It's not every day a desert rat such as myself gets caught out in the rain. Some of the locals and other folks visiting from the Midwest were not as enamored with the hail.
We wrapped up the day with a sighting of some wildlife, which is common in the Black Hills.
We enjoyed it immensely here, but we gotta get back on the road tomorrow.
